Many South Florida pool decks use travertine, marble or concrete pavers installed over a bed of sand. Unlike a solid concrete slab, these surfaces can move gradually, and the stability of a removable pool fence depends on the condition of the pavers, the material underneath and the way the barrier is used. This guide explains how we evaluate, reinforce and repair these installations.
Repeated fence removal and reinstallation, strong winds, large dogs pushing against the mesh and normal deck movement can loosen the areas around the sleeves. When that happens, posts may lean, mesh tension may decrease and a self-closing gate may stop aligning correctly.

Movement beneath the deck can affect the alignment and tension of a removable pool fence. Common warning signs include:
We can reinforce problem areas during the original installation or repair an existing pool fence that has become loose. Depending on the deck and barrier layout, the solution may include stabilizing individual holes, reinforcing corners or installing concrete footers beneath critical areas.
A self-closing pool gate must be installed on a stable, solid base. When the pavers beneath the gate are installed directly over sand, concrete footers may be needed to keep the gate aligned and operating correctly.
Before beginning the work, we evaluate the deck surface, gate location, barrier layout and areas where the pavers may require additional support. Straight lines and properly planned corners generally produce a cleaner, more stable installation on travertine and paver decks.
This evaluation helps reduce future movement and avoids placing a self-closing gate on an unstable section of the deck.
If your fence poles are leaning, the mesh has lost tension or the gate is no longer closing correctly, the installation may be repairable without replacing the entire barrier. Send us photos of the affected areas so we can review the condition of the deck, sleeves and fence sections.
