Planning a pool fence, gate or other safety barrier in Miami-Dade County? A compliant pool barrier is designed to restrict unsupervised access to the pool area. The requirements can depend on the property and permit scope, so confirm the final details with Miami-Dade County and the authority having jurisdiction before installation.
Miami-Dade County states that the top of a residential swimming-pool barrier must generally be at least 48 inches above grade, measured on the side facing away from the pool. Barriers must also avoid openings or conditions that could allow a young child to pass through, crawl under or climb over.
The correct barrier layout depends on the deck, pool shape, gates, doors, existing walls and local permitting conditions. A removable mesh pool fence can create a dedicated layer of protection around the pool while preserving access to the deck when the fence is removed.
